Activities
The Arlberg ski area is one of the most extensive in the world offering a huge range of terrain both on and off piste. The village itself is at 1716m making it snow sure and Zurs’ Trittkopf cable car and three express chairlifts take you quickly to over 2400m. The Zurs sector of the Lech ski area benefits from slopes on both sides of the valley offering a variety of uncrowded conditions for all standards. Relatively easy blue and red runs to the village make getting home a breeze.
Zurs is integrated into the Lech ski area and is a part of the White Ring ski circuit. Getting to Lech itself is straightforward – your driver can take you straight there in a matter of minutes or you can ski there via three chairlifts and red and blue runs.
Because of Zurs’ central location between Lech and St Anton, the St Anton ski area which is covered by the Arlberg lift pass is also accessible, just a few minutes’ drive in your private shuttle vehicle. As a result, Zurs is arguably the best place to base yourself to make the most of the whole Arlberg ski area and those familiar with Europe’s other major ski areas such as the Espace Killy, Trois Vallées and the Portes du Soleil will be impressed by the absence of crowds in such a diverse and well-equipped ski area.
For non skiers, Zurs has an ice rink and the boutiques and other facilities of Lech are only a few minutes' drive away
When to travel
The Arlberg area has an enviable reputation for its snow. The Eastern Alps frequently benefit from early snow and the largely pastoral terrain does not need a hugely deep base to offer great skiing conditions. As a result, Zurs frequently offers some of the best skiing in the Alps in December and January. The microclimate means that snowfalls are more prolific than in many other resorts and with plenty of skiing above 2000 metres, conditions can be great right up until late April.
