Description
Brookhurst Boutique Accommodation is set in pretty French-inspired gardens in the heart of Marlborough wine country, a region with some of the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand. Just a few moments walk along the river from the quaint town of Blenheim, Brookhurst is the perfect base for exploring the area for those who love the smaller and more boutique style of property.
Close to many of the famous vineyards such as Cloudy Bay and Villa Maria, no detail is left unexplored at Brookhurst when taking care of their guests. Each of the three rooms is thoughtfully designed with your comfort in mind, all individually styled with private ensuite bathrooms. The lounge and breakfast room area is stylishly furnished with cosy corners for enjoying a good book with a chilled glass of local Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, recommended by your charming and knowledgeable hosts. The beautiful gardens are also ideal for enjoying a delicious homemade breakfast before a day of wine tasting and exploring.
Accommodation
Each of Brookhurst's three upstairs rooms is different in style but all have the same quality bed linen and facilities and fittings that make this a truly luxury experience. The Garden Room overlooks the attractive potager garden and has warm tones and an attractive en suite. The Silver Room is a large comfortable Queen room with a European feel and a very stylish en suite. The King Room has a large Italian bathroom with double spa bath and a seating area with TV and comfy seats.
Childcare
Children over the age of 15 are very welcome at Brookhurst. The house is not equipped for children under this age and with only three rooms is kept as a more adult focussed property.
Facilities
Brookhurst has an elegant guest lounge and dining room with an open fire in winter and a piano and music system with a range of CDs. Breakfasts are enjoyed here as are evening drinks and canapés, after which guests are chauffeured to the restaurant of their choice for dinner. In the summer the French doors are opened and the attractive verandas and gardens can be enjoyed.
Activities
Brookhurst can organise private chauffeur driven tours of the region and among the many attractions are wine tasting, walking, boating in the Marlborough Sounds, dining in the numerous wineries and restaurants, whale watching, river punting, kayaking, cycling and visiting local galleries.
When to travel
The climate in New Zealand is incredibly pleasant, with warm and balmy summers and cold crisp winter months with wonderful clear, blue skies. The warmer high-season months of November to April are perfect for outdoor exploration. The colder months of June to August are the best time to ski.
Both North and South Islands are drier on the east coast, rather than on the west, where mountain ranges act as a trap for the moisture-rich winds from the Tasman Sea. It is also worth remembering that it is usually a few degrees cooler on the South Island than the North Island and as New Zealand has a maritime climate, the weather can change rapidly.
