A combination of stone and weathered wood, the lodge buildings combine rustic materials with comfortable up-to-date furniture, creating the feeling of being in a cosy and welcoming home. rooms. The main lodge features many warm and welcoming common areas in which to relax including the lounge, dining room and various 'outdoor rooms'. Guests gather each evening over a drink to discuss the adventures of the day before sampling the fresh local cuisine in the dining room or at one of the property's many romantic private dining locations.
All twenty two of Cape Kidnappers' stunning suites have panoramic views of the farm, golf course and the Pacific Ocean from their private deck and large picture windows so that you never feel disconnected from the enormity of the landscape surrounding you. Every creature comfort has been attended to with a clean, crisp style dominating throughout. For families or groups the Owner's Suite is a private four bedroom retreat with kitchen, large sitting room, open plan kitchen and private jacuzzi where you can sit and admire the majestic views from the ridgetop location.

Accommodation
The 4 lodge suites are the largest suites and are conveniently located in the main lodge. The 10 Hilltop Suites and 2 Hilltop Rooms (which are used in conjunction with a suite) sit on top of the hill above the lodge and afford wonderful views and are conveniently located for the spa. The 8 Ridge Suites are a short walk from the lodge and are spacious with fireplaces. The four bedroom luxury Owners Cottage is also in this area and has a large living room, open plan kitchen and outdoor jacuzzi.
Childcare
Children are very welcome a Cape Kidnappers and several of the rooms interconnect or families might like the Owner's Cottage, complete with kitchen, which can be rented as a one or two bedroom house. Children's menus, babysitting service, cots and much more is available to families and activities can be tailored according to your children's ages, interests and abilities. Private dining arrangements can be made for families with children under the age of 12 after 7pm.

The lodge prides itself on its low 'food miles' and with its own vegetable garden and the abundant produce in the Hawke's Bay area, meals are deliciously fresh from the gourmet breakfasts, light lunches, picnic baskets and fine dinners (which can be taken privately or in the dining room), prior to which guests can convene for drinks and canapés . There is a wine cellar with tasting room, library, heated infinity pool, jacuzzi, gym, indulgent hilltop luxury spa and golf course with clubhouse.
Activities
Complimentary activities include mountain biking, nature walks (backpacks, blankets and picnics can be provided as can a guide) and property tours. Also available is golf, four wheel drive experiences, quad biking, Gannet colony tours and boat trips.
When to travel
The climate in New Zealand is incredibly pleasant, with warm and balmy summers and cold crisp winter months with wonderful clear, blue skies. The warmer high-season months of November to April are perfect for outdoor exploration. The colder months of June to August are the best time to ski.
Both North and South Islands are drier on the east coast, rather than on the west, where mountain ranges act as a trap for the moisture-rich winds from the Tasman Sea. It is also worth remembering that it is usually a few degrees cooler on the South Island than the North Island and as New Zealand has a maritime climate, the weather can change rapidly.
