Each of the twenty-one luxurious suites features lavish king sleeping areas, a sunken lounge, dramatic glass walled bathroom and outdoor terrace with occasional seating and daybed. The hip suites have been cleverly designed to bring the outside in with huge glass walls, fusing the breathtaking scenery outside and plentiful creature comforts inside.
A sweeping panorama of Hanson Bay is a dramatic backdrop for enjoying contemporary Australian cuisine and the daily changing menu honours the abundance of fine local ingredients available. Accommodation
Southern Ocean Lodge's 21 luxurious, spacious suites all have king size beds, sunken lounges, dramatic glass walled bathrooms and plenty of outdoor living space. There are 11 Flinders Suites, 5 slightly larger Ocean Retreats with open fireplace and 2 Family Suites which have two bedrooms & bathrooms and a separate living room with TV/DVD. The 2 Remarkable Suites have the added luxury of a spa bath on their terraces as does the stunning Osprey Pavilion, the ultimate in state-of-the-art luxe.

Children over the age of six are welcomed at Southern Ocean Lodge and there is plenty to do to keep children and their families who have a keen sense of adventure entertained here. The lodge has a very personalised approach to their guests' needs and will be able to tailor your stay to the needs of your family.

The Southern Ocean Lodge's restaurant serves the most wonderful breakfasts, lunches and dinners all focused on fresh local produce and intense flavours. The relaxed home from home feel means guests are welcome to help themselves to drinks and relax in the Great Room, Baudin Lounge or by the jacuzzi. Sunset drinks are served daily and are a great way for guests and staff to get to know eachother. There is also a dramatic clifftop spa with pampering treatments, steam room and chill out lounge.

Southern Ocean Lodge offers a huge range of nature activities for all the family ranging from quad bike safaris, kayak adventures, beach fishing, coastal treks, wildlife spotting, epicurean adventures, whale watching and bush picnics. Bespoke experiences and private charters are available at an extra cost.
When to travel
Kangaroo Island's climate is best described as temperate. Temperatures tend to be a few degrees cooler in summer and warmer in winter than on mainland South Australia. The sea plays a large role in the island's daily weather pattern. Conditions can change frequently during the day, so pack warm clothes, even during a summer holiday.

How to get there
30-minute flights from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island - Kingscote. SeaLink operate regular 45-minute ferry transfers between Cape Jervis on the mainland and Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Southern Ocean Lodge is a 50-minute drive from the airport or 90-minute drive from the ferry terminal.
