Description
Al Maha is an exclusive oasis set within a 225 square kilometre desert conservation reserve, an hour’s drive from the city. The 40 tented suites are positioned to ensure privacy but also to provide panoramic views of the desert landscape. All have terraces with private pools and look towards the dunes and the watering hole where the Arabian oryx gather during the day.
The interiors are finished with handcrafted bespoke furniture, antiques and artefacts, to create a luxurious take on the Bedouin lifestyle.
The Al Diwaan restaurant with its expansive verandah is a relaxed and informal venue. You can also arrange to have meals in your suite, and dune dinners at an authentic desert encampment are a popular choice. The Timeless Spa offers a full range of beauty treatments and massages as well as housing a fully equipped gym and outdoor swimming pool.
In line with the resort’s mission to bring the heritage of the desert environment and culture to others, a selection of activities are included in the price such as archery, horse and camel riding and guided nature walks, wildlife drives and desert safaris across the stunning Al Maha landscape.

When to travel
The best time to visit the UAE is between October and November and then February and March, when temperatures hang around the mid-20s and the humidity is under control. While December and January are generally considered the best months to go, the weather over the last couple of ‘winters’ has been unpredictable with occasional cloud and rain.
The month of Ramadan means hotel rates are heavily discounted, but while outside the resort, Ramadan is strictly adhered to, within the resorts you will notice very little difference.
High summer (July and August) means heavy discounted hotels it’s a great option for a cheap getaway but it will be very very hot and very very humid!
