Exclusively located on the bay at Barr Al Jissah, the Shangri-La nestles against the dramatic backdrop of the rugged interior mountains and the spectacular waters of the Gulf of Oman. Built in a majestic Omani style and set in 124 acres of landscaped gardens, the resort comprises three hotels: Al Waha, Al Bandar and Al Husn.
Throughout the resort, all rooms are sea facing and have private balconies, terraces or patios. All spacious rooms are designed to reflect the enchanting Arabian spirit of traditional Oman, and feature artworks and imagery created by local artists. Childcare
Children’s facilities at the Shangri La Barr al Jissah are excellent. The Little Turtle’s Kid’s Club located in the Al Waha Hotel provides both air conditioned/indoor and outdoor play areas, both under trained supervision. Children up to 8 yrs old are welcome but those under 4 yrs old should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The 'Adventure Zone' is an exciting family entertainment venue located in the Al Mazaar souk adjacent to the 'Omani Heritage Village' and is open daily from 10am to 10pm offering a variety of play areas, a climbing wall, soft play areas and daily Nintendo Wii Sports challenges. Other children's activities include treasure hunts, henna painting, the Sand City Competition and Arabian arts and crafts.

When to travel
The best time to visit Oman is between November and mid-March, when the cooler air brings the mountain scenery sharply into focus and daytime temperatures average 25°C. For the rest of the year, much of Oman is oppressively hot and hazy, particularly between May and August.
