Description

Dana Guest House is hugely different from the larger hotels of Amman and Petra where most of Jordan’s tourists head. Dana offers an element of solitude and a homely atmosphere with wholesome local cuisine and personal service.

The rooms are simply furnished, with only one room being ensuite. This rooms is often booked well in advance meaning you can expect shared bathrooms (Standard Rooms). The rooms are clean and comfortable and for those wishing an experience off the beaten track, then Dana Guest House is ideal. Each room has a wonderful terrace overlooking a 1,000 metre drop to the basin of the Wadi Dana. The sunsets across the far side of the Wadi make this an exceptionally beautiful place to be in the evenings.

Close by is the small village of Dana, which is worth a wander around, and next door to the Guest House is a small handicrafts workshop and nature reserve museum.

It goes without saying the guest’s income helps to fund the conservation efforts established in Dana Nature Reserve. Wildlife on offer nearby are the Griffon vulture, Bonelli`s eagle, Sinai rosefinch, Tristram`s grackle and the fan-tailed Raven.

The Dana Guest House offers 9 Rooms, of which there are 2 triple rooms and 2 quad rooms for larger families.

Activities

Close by is the small village of Dana, which is worth a wander around, and next door to the Guest House is a small handicrafts workshop and nature reserve museum. Explore the Dana Nature Reserve which is home to many bird species including the Griffon vulture, Bonelli`s eagle, Sinai rosefinch, Tristram`s grackle and the fan-tailed Raven. Scott Dunn recommends trekking through Wadi Dana to Feynan Eco Lodge, which takes around five hours. We can organise a guide and packed lunches.

When to travel

For a small country, Jordan has an extraordinary range of climates. The best time to visit climate-wise is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the daytime temperatures aren't too extreme. April is probably the best month, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea.
