Originally built by one of the wealthiest Indian trading families at the time, this boutique hotel is adorned with Italian and Indian mosaic floors, carved arches, moulded ceilings and Moorish styled balconies, a true treasure of its era.
Located in Bambalapitiya in Colombo 4, it is in the heart of Colombo’s business district, however as its neatly cosseted away from the busy Galle road by its own cul de sac, it is a gated and very private hotel.
There are 3 categories of suites: 3 Leisure Suites, 8 Corporate Suites and 1 Royal Suite. All suites come with a 29 inch LCD TV by Nakamitchi, which can be watched from the bed or the living room. A High Fidelity sound system by Nakamitchi and movies on an Apple iPod are some of the mod cons. A music selector designed by Lalin, is also available which plays 6 genres of music from around the world and allows you to set the tunes to your mood. The painstakingly selected music collection ranges from Paris Jazz, to salsa, clubby tunes, to chilled out lounge music.
Though the building is 200 years old, the technology is cutting edge. All rooms are WiFi enabled which is complimentary for guests to use. There is also an intelligent bedside lighting panel that allows you to control your privacy and mood lighting from either side of the Super king size (7ft x 7 ½ ft) bed. We believe that nothing signifies luxury like Excess. With this in mind, you have a variety of shampoos, shower gels, body lotions and essences to chose from, including his and hers vanity kits. Corporate suites comes with a double sized bath tub, and our showers have an innovative twist, a secret that will remain for our guests to discover. For those who wish to switch to work mode, corporate suites are equipped with its very own business desk, that comes complete with an Apple laptop and fax/photocopy machine.
The hotel boasts four dining options. HVN, the grand hall of the mansion converted to a stylish restaurant with gold carved ceilings, an antique fan that spans 18 feet, organza glass tables and a fresco of richis meditating in the clouds. The menu features an eclectic fusion of local cuisine and flavors prepared by renowned chefs; the food and atmosphere is nothing less than heavenly. Zaza is an outdoor restaurant, surrounded by water and overlooking the magnificent façade of the mansion. Decorated with Egg shaped chairs and cracked glass tables, This outdoor restaurant is a relaxed dining experience that brings together Local flavors and global Lounge music to create an epicurean Dining experience. T Republic, located on the lawn facing the front façade of the mansion, is yet another airy outdoor venue from which to choose to Dine in. Champagne & Sky is a very special location at the very top of the building is preserved for the select few who chose to have private rooftop dining - perfect for the final night of a romantic tour of this fabulous country perhaps!?
Accommodation
Each of the suites are unique as rooms were created from within a house, and therefore, no two suites are alike. Each has its own distinct colour hues, layout and character with every piece of furniture, décor, fabric and lighting having been custom designed by the hotels founder Lalin Jinasena. Yet all suites offer space and the finest in comfort and conveniences. Suites are 500 sq ft (45 sq mtrs) on average and go up to 1,000 sq ft (90 sq mtrs) in space.

Children are welcome at Casa Colombo but there are no specific facilities.

When to travel
From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern half, while the dry season here lasts from December to March. There is also an inter-monsoonal period in October and November when rain can occur in many parts of the island. Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C.

10-hour 45-minute direct flight to Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. It takes 45-minutes to drive from the airport to Casa Colombo.
