Description

The Everest Summit Lodges are an excellent opportunity to trek in complete comfort along the famous route to Everest Base Camp. There are five lodges along the early route to Base Camp. Each lodge is extremely comfortable, with a cosy chalet feel and welcoming staff. All lodges have a dining and lounge area, twin bedrooms with ensuite and beautiful gardens with fabulous views. The service is very attentive and the food excellent - guests are served a three course lunch and dinner each day. They’ve also thought of great little touches - hot water bottles in your bed each evening and tea brought to your room in the morning.

Monjo Everest Summit Lodge is situated at an altitude of 2,850m in the valley of Monjo, a 4-5 hour walk from Lukla, the starting point of the trek. There are 22 ensuite rooms and a living/dining area with beautiful views down the valley.

Tashinga Everest Summit Lodge is in a wonderful location amidst pine forests with breathtaking views of Ama Dablam. The lodge is at an altitude of 3,450m and so two nights are required here to acclimatise. Therefore day excursions are arranged to the famous Sherpa monastery of Thangboche and the village of Phortse.

Pangboche Everest Summit Lodge (3,985m) is located literally at the foot of the Ama Dablam mountain (6,865 m) with fantastic 360 degree views of the mountains. It is a slightly smaller lodge with only ten rooms but with the usual dining/living area and bar.

Mende Everest Summit Lodge is often described as one of the best lodges, perched almost 3,000m above the Thamo and Thame valleys. It is a truly peaceful place, with only a monastery and a few monks as neighbours. There are 20 rooms here, as well as a reading room, bar and restaurant.

Lukla Everest Summit Lodge is the gateway to Mt. Everest and lies at 2,743m. The lodge is conveniently located directly opposite the airport. Rooms are spacious ensuites and there’s a bar and restaurant, as well as a lovely garden.

Activities

The surrounding landscape in and around all five camps offer some of the best trekking opportunities in the world. You will also get a chance to engage with locals and discover more about the fascinating eclectic mix of people. Nepal has a population of 26 million people made up of over 40 different races and tribes to give you a feel for its diversity. To relax and unwind, you can take advantage of their Himalayan Spa treatments at their lodges in Monjo, Tashinga and Mende.

When to travel

Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Autumn and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Autumn (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.
