Description
The Himalayan Shangri-La village resort is located near Dhulikhel, offering stunning views over large sections of Nepal’s extended Himalayan region. The hotel is located an hour’s drive from Kathmandu city and is accessed by a winding track through dense forest and typical Nepali village scenery.
The hotel is spread over gentle slopes and lies at an altitude of 1,700 metres among pristine forests of pine, rhododendron and apple trees to name a few. As the highest Village Resort in this area you can enjoy a 180 degree view of the mighty Himalaya and the Kavrepalanchowk valley below.
Rooms are decorated in traditional style, with much the same feel as the rooms in Dwarikas, Kathmandu. There are no TVs and their design is simple which enhances the delights of the stunning surroundings. There is a restaurant serving nepali and continental food, and some wonderful terraces on which to enjoy a sundowner. It is a great place to begin your trip around Nepal with its relaxed atmosphere and awe-inspiring views.
A range of activities are on offer nearby including hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting and kayaking in the Bhote Koshi, bungy jumping, bird watching trips and visits to the old Newari villages, monasteries and temples.

The Himalayan Shangri-La village resort offers 46 rooms – Newari or Gurung style. Rooms offer fabulous views of the natural landscape which are highlighted by the lack of TVs. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided and bathrooms feature showers.

Children are accepted but there are no specific facilities.

Facilities at the resort include a restaurant serving a variety of cuisines, the Shanri La bar, lounge and library and a conference room. Mountain bikes are also available on request.
Activities
The resort offers complimentary walking and birdwatching. Activities at an additional charge include kayaking, white water rafting and mountain biking. The local area is home to temples, monasteries and you can experience traditional Nepalese life visiting Newari villages.

Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Autumn and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Autumn (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.
