Description

There are four lodges, each set about a half day’s walk apart from each other. There is some up and down but the walking is not too strenuous, allowing you to enjoy the views, local villages and people. Altitude is also not a problem here, with the highest lodge at 1,990m.

Every room in each lodge has an ensuite bathroom with hot running water and everything is provided from sheets and blankets to hot water bottles, down jackets, scarves and hats. You will trek for around 4/5 hours each day, with your English speaking guide and porter who will carry everything for you, even your water bottle.

Sanctuary Lodge is situated in the Modi River Valley at an altitude of 1,060m. It is a charming luxury lodge with just 10 ensuite rooms. Along with its beautiful gardens and luxurious accommodation, there is a large living dining area, with roaring log fires, excellent service and sophisticated cuisine.

Built just above the village of Ghandruk, at an altitude of 1,990m, Himalaya Lodge has been designed in traditional style to blend in perfectly with the surrounding buildings. The 11 ensuite rooms all front on to lawns with expansive views of Ghandruk town and the awe-inspiring Annapurnas.

Situated at an altitude of 1,450 metres, Gurung Lodge is built along the lines of a traditional Nepalese village. Every room has a large ensuite bathroom and spectacular views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The main building has log fires, comfortable chairs and serves delicious food in its dining area.

Basanta Lodge is set on the outskirts of Dhampus village and has seven charming ensuite rooms with sweeping views of the entire Annapurna Range. Like its sister lodges, it has delicious food and excellent service and it is a great place to end your trek. Ker and Downey Treks can range from 3 – 6 days.

When to travel

Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Autumn and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Autumn (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.
