Description

The resort is located in the North Ari Atoll, about a 20-minute seaplane journey from Male. The Ari Atoll is particularly noted for the quality of its diving experiences. Surrounded by a gorgeous lagoon and stunning views, this island makes for a breathtaking escape.

Constance Halaveli has one of the longest jetties in the Maldives, elegantly standing over a remarkably tempting turquoise lagoon. There are 57 Water Villas, all offering outstanding privacy and comfort. The villas are creatively designed with high ceilings that represent the shape of Dhonis, the local Maldivian boat. There is ample space with a large bedroom, a bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and separate rainforest shower. Outside, there is a private sundeck that leads onto an infinity plunge pool dropping off into the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.

The Beach Villas are all shielded by well-grown tropical plants and trees which offers immense privacy. There are 28 single or double storey beach villas dotted around the island. To the front, the gardens offer a quiet retreat for morning breakfast or evening in villa dining next to an inviting plunge pool. To the rear, the villas have large open-air bathrooms with sunken bathtubs and rainforest showers. The double storey villas are ideal for families.

The island has three restaurants; ‘Jahaz’, the main restaurant serving international cuisine, ‘Jing’, offering speciality fusion cuisine and ‘Meeru’, the beach grill which serves a wide selection of seafood in an al fresco setting. Halaveli offers two bars, one near Jahaz and the other next to Jing, which provides a stunning setting for sundowners.

The island has an exceptional spa, offering an extensive range of treatments located in over water treatment rooms. There is a dive centre offering a variety of experiences for novice or expert divers, water sports and sailing. The resort is also ideal for families as it offers a kids club for children aged 4 to 11. Full day activities are planned for children and the qualified team will help them discover the Maldives, make sand-castles, watch amazing sunsets and spot stars. The club is open from 9 am until 10pm at night so parents can chose their own time.

When to travel

The Maldives has a tropical climate distinguished by two seasons, or monsoons: the dry northeast monsoon from December to March, and the wet southwestern monsoon from May to November, with more strong winds and rain. April is a transitional period noted for clear water and heat. The temperature remains remarkably consistent at around 30°C.

February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period. Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to Christmas and New Year and prices are even higher. Easter and the Italian holiday week in August also attract peak prices at most resorts.

Storms are more likely from May to November, though it’s still warm, skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.

Diving is good year-round, although a basic rule is that life on the reef is more varied and visibility better on the western side of any atoll from May to November and from the eastern side of any atoll December to April.

The surfing season runs from March to October, which is when resorts are cheapest.
