Tamil Nadu

Occupying the southernmost tip of India, Tamil Nadu rises from flat plains on the Indian Ocean coast to the peaks of the Western Ghats over 2500m high. Reminders of the region’s historical role as the cradle of Dravidian culture are evident all over the state in the form of huge temple complexes, beautiful rock carvings and evocative music and dance. The coast is littered with stunning beaches and delightful fishing villages, whilst hill stations in the mountains provide a respite from the intense summer heat of the plains.
