Description

Built in 1884, the Oberoi Cecil was refurbished and restored in 1997 to become the predominant hotel in Shimla. It contains elegant interiors and period furniture and is ideally located for exploring Shimla’s colonial past and experience its Himalayan delights.

Most of the 79 rooms and suites at the Oberoi Cecil have valley or mountain views, decorated classically with polished wood and brass and with all modern amenities, expected with a member of the Oberoi portfolio. Many rooms afford stunning views across the valley and snow covered peaks of the Himalayas and the bathrooms include a vanity counter, a bathtub and come with deluxe Ayurvedic toiletries.

The hotel has a restaurant offering Asian and European dishes, ‘The Lounge’ where guests can enjoy a cup of tea or a drink later on and the ‘Cedar Garden’ which serves light meals, snacks and drinks. The hotel has a delightful indoor heated swimming pool, steam and sauna facilities, fitness centre and a spa. A range of activities can be arranged from the Oberoi Cecil including Horse riding, Ice Skating, Trekking and Skiing.

Activities at the hotel include swimming, off site golf at the Naldehra Golf Course, and use of the gym and spa. Local attractions include the Viceregal Lodge which was built in 1888 by the British Viceroy Lord Dufferin and also features a museum and beautifully laid out gardens, Tattapani/Shiv Goofa, the hot sulphur spring famous for its therapeutic power, Sankat Mochan, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and Kufri, a ski destination in Himachal Pradesh.
