Description

Hue is a wonderful town to explore by cyclo visiting the ancient citadel or one of the many colourful markets or take a colourful dragon boat along the river to visit the Summer Palace and Tomb of Emperor Tu Duc who died with an incredible 104 wives.

This original Art Deco style hotel is new concept for Hue and is in a stunning location on the banks of the Perfume River that is alive with activity throughout the day. La Résidence was formerly a governor's villa set on 2 hectares of land and has been meticulously restored to house 122 rooms and suites, all beautifully light and airy, and most with views across the Perfume River.

The freshest market ingredients are used by the hotel's chefs to create delicious local, regional and international dishes in Restaurant Le Parfum, where cooking classes can also take you on a culinary journey from the market to a hands of lesson in the art of Vietnamese cuisine. Meals can also be enjoyed while cruising on the Perfume River, in the gardens or by candlelight on one of the balconies.

The bar is a destination in itself with an amazing art deco fresco on the wall. There is an opulent spa, amazing saltwater swimming pool, tennis court and fully equipped gym.

When to travel

The central region of Vietnam has a tropical climate, particularly around Hué and is divided into two distinguished seasons. The dry season (from March to August) has a maximum temperature of 40°C and the colder, rainy season (August to January) has temperatures that can go down to 19°C.

From March to August will be the best time to visit Hue, especially between March and April when the temperature is more pleasant, though rainfalls are still likely. Hue sees fog and rain quite frequently, even when the weather across the Hai Van Pass in nearby Danang is sunny. During the rainy season, between September and January, rain is more frequent and can be heavy.

There are several festivals in Hue and worth taking note in planning your travel. Each year, during the seventh month of the lunar year, Hue celebrates the Duong No ceremony, Vietnamese all souls’ days, and Hon Chen Temple Festival. In addition, every two years, there is a special Hue Festival which lasts for two weeks in June.
