Description

The famous American CIA agent Jim Thompson was on holiday in the Cameron Highlands in 1967 and went missing, never to be seen again! Yet his legacy lives on at the Cameron Highland Resort with a Jim Thompson reading lounge with a roaring open fire for colder evenings and a Thai Silk shop.

Each guest room at the Cameron Highland Resort is beautifully furnished and has a small balcony offering views over the adjacent golf course. This nostalgic elegance is seen throughout the hotel with bespoke furniture, exquisite teak wood and silks, and large four poster beds surrounded by a mass of comfy cushions.

The award-winning spa here is a must and offers unique treatments such as green tea baths and Malay massage. Your days here can be spent exploring the nearby strawberry farms and tea plantations or playing on the only golf course in the Cameron Highlands, adjacent to the hotel. In the afternoon retreat to the lounge for traditional English tea before a delicious dinner at either the Japanese restaurant or in the homely dining room.

Accommodation

The 56 elegant rooms and suites are designed with nostalgia and include plantation shutters, wooden beams, comfortable four poster beds and French doors leading onto balconies with golf course views. Deluxe Rooms have polished timber floors and cosy seating areas and the Family, Cameron and Jim Thompson Suites all have 2 bedrooms. The Junior Suite has a studio style bedroom with large open plan living area.

Childcare

Children are welcome at the Cameron Highland Resort but there are no facilities except for babysitting, which can be arranged on request. There is a 2 bedroom Family Suite which has a twin and four poster bedroom and a shared bathroom. The larger Cameron and Jim Thompson Suites also have 2 bedrooms.

Facilities

There are 2 restaurants offering delicious Japanese and International cuisine as well as a traditional tea room and bar. Private dining either within your room or at another location of your choice is also available. The hotel's Spa Village has indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and a wide range of sophisticated treatments and healing therapies derived from the healing properties of tea. There is also a reading room and snooker table.

Activities

Activities in and around the hotel include golf, visits to verdant tea plantations, working farms, fascinating local markets, nearby villages and beautiful waterfalls.

When to travel

Good to visit all year round. Enjoys a cooler temperature than the rest of Malaysia. Light rain showers are common in the afternoon.

Cameron Highlands Resort is located in the state of Pahang, approximately 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur on the east side of the border between the states of Perak and Pahang in Malaysia.

How to get there

12-hour international flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, followed by a 3-hour 30-minute drive.
