  • A resort with its own 64-acre nature reserve is a rarity - the 240 foot tree top canopy being an experience to remember.

Description

Cradled between forested hills and a long sweep of the untouched Pantai Dalit beach washed by the South China Sea, the Rasa Ria is a large resort style hotel - a great introduction to Borneo which does not have too many properties of this scale.

There are many facilities for your comfort at Rasa Ria, and most of the 420 elegantly furnished rooms have a view of the sea, garden or beach. The Malaysian culture resonates in each room, with soft earth tones and intricately carved panels beautifully complimenting the serene surroundings.

A wide variety of sports are on offer, including horse riding, wind surfing, white water rafting, bicycles for hire and tennis courts. The hotel has its own 64 acre nature reserve with treetop canopy walkways and an Orang Utan sanctuary where you can watch baby Orang Utans at feeding time.

Dining takes place in several restaurants offering imaginative cuisine from across Asia and Europe and the Sampan Bar on the beach is the perfect spot for a refreshing drink or light meal with the ocean and Borneo sunset beyond.

Please note that a stay here can only be booked through Scott Dunn as part of an itinerary with at least 7 nights accommodation in total.

When to travel

Like the rest of Malaysia, Sabah’s climate is hot and humid. Expect temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s throughout the lowlands. The state’s rainfall averages about 300cm annually and though it rains throughout the year, the heaviest rainfall generally occurs between October and January. At higher elevations the temperature is refreshingly cool, dropping to colder temperatures at night. Mount Kinabalu has its own climate and, above 3500m, temperatures can drop to freezing.
