Description

Contemporary hotels are a rare feature in China and the Sofitel feels as if it has been lifted from the pages of a design magazine. As well as the hotel's fabulous East meets West atmosphere, its location is perfect for exploring this ancient capital of China and the mystical Terracotta Army which is 45 minutes by car.

Each room at The Sofitel Xian on Renmin Square is extremely stylish with funky, contemporary decor and open-plan, designer bathrooms. For extra indulgence, take a room with Club Lounge access for intimate breakfasts and evening cocktails.

When you are not out sight-seeing, there is an inviting indoor pool and well equipped fitness area as well as a beautiful spa. Dining is a delight here as there is a wide choice of restaurants including Japanese, Indian, Chinese and Mediterranean cuisine, all served in beautifully designed settings.

Several buildings of significant historic importance surround the Sofitel and the Terracotta Warrior Museum is easily reached by car. Since the discovery of the first warrior in 1974 by farmers digging a well, more and more fascinating pieces of history have been unveiled. The army was buried with Emperor Qing to help him rule a new empire in the afterlife and each warrior was designed to be unique and true to life.
