Description

La Residence D’Angkor is a boutique Orient Express hotel located in the heart of Cambodia's Siem Reap. The architectural style of this stunning luxury retreat pays homage to Khmer architecture and the property is built in natural woods with a soothing decor throughout.

All of La Residence D'Angkor's guest rooms are tastefully furnished in local materials and the Deluxe Rooms are located with lovely views onto the gardens and poolside. The eight new suites are more contemporary in style, with stylish and spacious interiors and wonderful private terraces, perfect for peaceful relaxation and al fresco dining.

There is a lovely pool in the peaceful, lush gardens that is an ideal place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. The hotel also boasts a fabulous spa, truly Cambodian in style with a wonderful array of holistic treatments designed to cleanse, purify and relax the body and mind. There is a great restaurant with local and international specialities on offer in a beautiful setting.

La Residence D'Angkor has a prime position - just 15 minutes drive to the temples of Angkor Wat and the town's markets, shops and restaurants all within walking distance. Rent a bicycle and see the local villages and countryside at your own pace with a delicious gourmet picnic or take a private cruise on Tonle Sap, the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia with its fascinating floating villages.

Accommodation

La Residence D'Angkor's 54 Deluxe Rooms and 8 Suites are all exquisitely decorated in Khmer style using hardwoods, bamboo and natural silks and cottons. The rooms are designed to be light and airy and have stunning floor to ceiling windows, large bathrooms and private balconies. We recommend Garden and Pool facing rooms. The Suites are in the quietest area of the property and guarantee peace and relaxation - they have a separate lounge area, LCD TV and DVD, unlimited wireless access, ipod docking stations and a terrace with space for al fresco dining.

Childcare

Children are very welcome at La Residence D'Angkor and children's menus are available at all 4 dining venues. Babysitting can also be arranged and the hotel has a range of board games suitable for younger guests.

Facilities

The Dining Room is a relaxed restaurant serving Khmer and International cuisine in a serene and traditional atmosphere. There is also a BBQ terrace by the poolside in the heart of the hotel's lush tropical gardens. Both the Martini Lounge and Pool Bar offer tapas and light snacks. Room service, picnic boxes and private dining in the gardens can all be easily arranged. The hotel's vast saltwater swimming pool has 45,000 handmade individually glazed tiles in different shades of green, paying homage to the nearby Barray Lakes and is simply stunning. The tranquil Kong Kea Spa has 6 indulgent treatment rooms with steam rooms and jacuzzis as well as beauty treatment rooms for facials, manicures and pedicures. There is also a fully equipped fitness centre and 2 boutiques.

Activities

All of the area's historical sites are easily accessible from the hotel - Angkor Wat's temples are a 15 minute drive and the centre of town is walking distance. Bicycles are available to rent for those wanting to explore independently. A bridge across the street from the hotel gives direct access to Psah Leu Market plus the many attractions and craft shops which are in the vicinity.

When to travel

Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.
