Description
This small property had a convenient location on Cambodia’s coast, in the charming village of Kep. Guests are immediately made to feel at home at Knai Bang Chatt with thoughtful and unobtrusive service and the property offers the perfect blend of privacy, serenity and exclusivity.
The 11 rooms and suites are spread over three striking villas built in the 1970s – the Blue House, Brown House and Red House. Each bedroom is individually decorated and all the villas have large terraces opening on to stunning ocean views. Dining options are varied from delicious set meals in the hotel that can be taken in the wooden dining pavilion or at a table right next to the waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Guests can also eat at the Sailing Club, a former fisherman’s house next door, that is owned and run by the hotel. This is also a fantastic place to savour the sunset with an evening cocktail. Outside of the hotel, a visit to Kep Crab Market is a must with small local restaurants offering the freshest of crab, cooked with local Kampot pepper.
Knai Bang Chatt has a fabulous pool and guests can also jump into the ocean from the jetty at the Sailing Club. Catamarans and kayaks are available for trips out to sea and bicycles and motorbikes can also be rented to discover the local area. A visit to the markets of Kampot, an ancient Chinese merchant town, is a must and day trips can also be organised to Bokor National Park and the tropical Rabbit Island, for snorkelling and a BBQ.

When to travel
Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.
