Uruguay

With its perfectly preserved colonial heritage, beautiful scenery and spectacular coast, Uruguay has much to offer those seeking a holiday of diversity. Uruguay is a very small South American country found between the larger nations of Brazil and Argentina.

This proud and peaceful country has beautiful verdant scenery and wonderful beach resorts, including Punta del Este, whose reputation as one of the most luxurious destinations in South America has made it a particular favourite of the rich and famous.

Uruguay manages to retain its strong rural frontier life as well as its rich colonial heritage. Thanks to its many alternating conquerors, the country has a hugely diverse range of native traditions, as well as a multitude of architectural wonders found in the cities. The remains of colonial fortresses centuries old are scattered around the country.

Uruguay also boasts the stunning city of Colonia del Sacramento. Colonia del Sacramento is a perfect place to spend the afternoon wondering its cobbled streets and taking in the superb architecture, that holds a mix of Portuguese and Uruguayan influences.
