The Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge offers the discerning guest 2 suites, and 29 rooms, 12 of which have breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The Tampu restaurant, exclusive to hotel guests, features stylish Andean decoration and stonework and offers mouthwatering Peruvian cuisine.
The hotel offers guided tours of Machu Picchu, Huanya Picchu, the impressive mountain that towers over the ancient citadel and the Temple of the Moon amongst others. One can unwind after a day of exploring one of the new seven wonders of the world with a massage using traditional Incan techniques.

Children are welcomed but there are no specific facilities. Given the terrain and the high altitude exploration of the surrounding area, this is a hotel best suited for older children.

Activities
The Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge offers treks and tours of Machu Picchu, Huanya Picchu, the Sun Gate, the Temple of the Moon, Putucusi and the thermal baths in Aguas Calientes. The trekking is challenging at times and goes to high altitude so participants should have a good level of fitness.
When to travel
April to November is the best time to visit Machu Picchu. The rainy season is typically from December to March, with the heaviest rains arriving in January and February.

Sanctuary Lodge is situated alongside the ruins at Machu Picchu, a 20-minute drive from the town of Aguas Calientes and 3.5-hour train journey from Cuzco.
How to get there
16-hour flight from London to Lima's Jorge Chávez International Airport (via Madrid or Miami), followed by a 1-hour 15-minute domestic flight to Cuzco (overnight in Lima usually required). Sanctuary Lodge is a 3.5-hour train journey to Aguas Calientes and a 20-minute car transfer from there.
