Set by the azure waters of the Caribbean, walled Cartagena de Indias is steeped in centuries of history and surely one of Latin America’s most beautiful, vibrant, and romantic cities. La Passion is located within walking distance of Barrio San Diego, renowned for its restaurants, bars and chic boutiques.

In this lovingly restored 19th century colonial mansion, only 8 rooms means personalised service. Rooms are well appointed and beautifully decorated with furnishings from Brazil, North Africa and Persia to give a cosy atmosphere. Guests are assured of a warm welcome by the owners Thierry and Lilliana, and their friendly staff.

Tradition, authenticity, and attention to detail exist hand in hand with stylish modern design and amenities. The hotel has its own speedboat to whisk you to islands off the coast and, the icing on the cake, a roof top pool with stunning views. La Passion also boasts a funky bar to relax and unwind in after a day of soaking up the sights in this charming colonial city.

Accommodation

La Passion features 8 spacious, beautifully decorated rooms with furnishings from Brazil, Morocco and Persia. Suites are equipped with queen size bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, flat screen TV, bathroom with private outdoor shower, complimentary wireless internet access, iPod dock station and a private balcony.

Childcare

Children under the age of 14 yrs are not permitted at La Passion. There is plenty to keep children busy in the colonial gem of Cartagena. They will love the beaches, the museums and other cultural activities such as a visit to the fortress of San Felipe de Barajas.

Facilities

La Passion offers a fantastic roof-top pool, Jacuzzi, lounge terrace, and bar. There is no restaurant but a continental breakfast is included in room rates and Cartagena is full of great places to eat out.

Activities

La Passion has a lovely roof-top pool for cooling off in the Caribbean sun and offers boat rental for daily excursions to the islands of Baru and Rosario. A visit to the old walled city of Cartagena is a must with its historic colonial buildings, plazas, churches and convents.

When to travel

A year-round destination however as Cartagena has a hot and humid tropical climate, it can rain at any time of the year. Typically ‘drier’ season is from December to March, while the most rainfall comes in October and November. The best time to visit Cartagena is the dry season.

Location and directions

Cartagena, Colombia

La Passion in located on Carrera 5 in the heart of the historical center of Cartagena, Colombia's north coast. Within easy walking distance of many of the city's historic sites, such as the Monastery of La Popa and the Plaza Bolivar, formerly the Palacio de la Inquiscion.

How to get there

14-hour international flight to Bogota El Dorado International Airport, followed by a 1-hour 20-minute domestic flight to Rafael Núñez International Airport. La Passion is 30-minutes from the airport.
