Description
The Casa Silva estate is located in the Colchagua Valley, near the town of San Fernando, at the foot of the Andes. It is a magical place that is steeped in history and Chilean tradition. Accommodation is located in an authentic Colchaguan house on the estate, which has been converted into a boutique hotel and has 7 finely decorated rooms.
The restaurant, situated within one of the three barrel rooms, serves a wonderful selection of Chilean food and wine as well as international dishes. The Vina Casa Silva winery is open for visits and tasting throughout the year. Guests can wander through the old structures, taste Vina Casa Silva wines, enjoy the stunning natural surroundings and go on carriage rides through the vineyards. Guests can also visit the cellar, one of Chile’s oldest and most attractive and the vineyards that are adjacent.
One can also go cycling to the polo field to watch professionals practicing and demonstrations at the rodeo arena. Chilean rodeo, distinct from its North American cousin, is an integral part of the country's rural culture and a spectacle well worth watching.

When to travel
Santiago is a year-round destination but the most pleasant months to visit are October to April. Although summer (November to April) is hot, breezes disperse the smog that shrouds the city for most of the year and there is lots of sunshine. Over winter (June to September) you’ll see the Andes wreathed in snow and can ski nearby, but the weather is chilly and rain can be an issue. Spring-like September is Chile's national independence month, and is full of activity.
