Description

Lençóis is a beautifully preserved 19th century colonial town. The city is a National Historical monument and serves as a base to explore several wild trails of the National Park of Chapada Diamantina. There are an abundance of endemic plants, waterfalls, ancient caves with impressive stalagmite and stalactite formations, rivers with natural swimming pools, canyons, and superb trekking and walking opportunities through beautiful landscapes full of forested valleys and table-top mountains. The park covers 84,000 square kilometres.

Hotel Canto das Aguas has a wonderful setting, surrounded by nature on a riverbank next to a waterwall, with beautiful gardens through which meanders a winding pool. The hotel provides a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for its guests and is an excellent base from which to explore Chapada Diamantina National Park.

When to travel

Temperatures in Bahia vary little from month to month and it's warm all year round, with average highs hovering around 30°C. April to July is the wettest season (though it can rain at any time) and June to September bring slightly cooler evenings. Salvador goes mad during Carnaval (February or March depending on the year) - more than 2 million party-goers hit the streets for a colourful riot of dancing and drinking - expect prices to hike and availability to fall dramatically.
