Description

Fazenda Sao Francisco Corumbau lies just off the south coast of Bahia between the cities of Porto Seguro and Prado. This delightful tropical retreat is a real hidden gem of Brazil, set on beautiful farmland amidst palm trees and overlooking 2km of private beach.

Fazenda Sao Francisco offers total privacy, excellent cuisine and modern sea-facing suites and bungalows. The bungalows all have their own private verandahs, small gardens, enormous bathrooms with over-sized sunken baths and bedrooms which are stylish, light and airy opening up to a view of the ocean. The restaurant uses ingredients cultivated from its own organic vegetable garden and fresh seafood fished locally in Corumbao to produce mouthwatering local dishes. It also offers an extensive wine list.

The emphasis here is on relaxation, but for those who want more than this there are trips into the nearby Indian Reserve to soak up the indigenous culture, hiking, scuba diving, boat rides through the mangroves and horse riding.

Fazenda Sao Francisco has 4 super deluxe bungalows, 2 rooms on the upper level of the main building and 2 deluxe bungalows with 2 rooms each. All have views overlooking the ocean, air conditioning, mini bar and private verandah

When to travel

Temperatures in Bahia vary little from month to month and it's warm all year round, with average highs hovering around 30°C. April to July is the wettest season (though it can rain at any time) and June to September bring slightly cooler evenings. Salvador goes mad during Carnaval (February or March depending on the year) - more than 2 million party-goers hit the streets for a colourful riot of dancing and drinking - expect prices to hike and availability to fall dramatically.
