Description

Set on the outskirts of Ushuaia, Los Cauquenes has successfully integrated itself with the impressive natural surroundings. The hotel is typically Fuegian in style and is built of natural lenga woods and stone with picture windows overlooking the Beagle Channel and the snow capped peaks of the Andes.

There are 54 spacious and tastefully designed en suite guest rooms and suites. The relaxing living areas have a warm and cosy atmosphere and are great for unwinding after a busy day exploring the area. Sit by the fire and enjoy an exquisite afternoon tea whilst taking in the views or head to the restaurant to sample delicious cuisine featuring the chef's innovative dishes which cleverly blend some of the best local flavours.

There is also an excellent spa and fitness centre, with an extensive treatment menu, jacuzzi and indoor/outdoor pool with fantastic views.

Accommodation

Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa has 54 guest rooms, 5 of them Suites, most with views of the Beagle Channel or the Andes Mountain Range. The rooms are tastefully decorated with wood furnishings and subtle tones. The Junior Suites have a separate living room and balcony and the Senior Suites have a separate living room, hydromassage tub and private deck.

Childcare

Children are welcome at Los Cauquenes. Babysitting, children’s activities and games are all available at the hotel. Some interconnecting rooms are available for families.

Facilities at Los Cauquenes include a restaurant, bar, wine cellar with over 100 Argentinean wines, indoor/outdoor pool, spa and fitness centre with sauna and jacuzzi.

Activities

Various activities and excursions can be organised from Los Cauquenes including walking, boat trips and visits to Tierra del Fuego National Park. Regular shuttle transfers also run between the hotel and the centre of Ushuaia, with its many small shops and restaurants. Guests at the hotel can also indulge in a variety of relaxing treatments at the hotel spa.

When to travel

October to April is generally the best time to visit, but the southern autumn (April and May) is often characterised by extraordinary leaf colours, and prices are usually lower at this time. Winter days are cold but often still.

How to get there

3.5hour flight from Jorge Newbery, Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, followed by a 15 minute drive to the resort.
