Description
Mansion Vitraux is an eclectic mix of old and modern, rising out of the shell of a listed building in San Telmo. The hotel has a superb wine cellar and exquisite food prepared by head chef Gerardo Alcatraz, served in the stunning sunken atrium.
Wood and glass corridors on three stories lead off to 12 uniquely designed rooms that are the epitome of Buenos Aires cool, although it is best to request one of the rooms furthest away from the atrium for those who prefer peace and quiet.
On the roof is a lovely relaxation area, with a counter-current pool and contoured loungers, and a spa and gym with state-of-the-art equipment. A few steps away are some excellent restaurants, classic Buenos Aires bars and the San Telmo market, great for picking up handicraft bargains.
Accommodation
Mansion Vitraux has 12 guest rooms in three categories - Urban Rooms, Glam Rooms and MV Style Rooms (please note the Urban rooms can be quite small). Each room is individually designed, taking inspiration from a particular style, ranging from Techno and Zen to Victorian and Art and Deco. Modern comforts include flat screen tvs (or huge screen projectors in some rooms), Egyptian cotton towels, fluffy bathrobes and luxury amenities.
Childcare
Mansion Vitraux is essentially an adult-orientated hotel and due to the nature of its design and furnishings children aged 3-15 are not encouraged to stay here. Cots and rollaway style beds can be provided on request.
Facilities
Mansion Vitraux has a chic rooftop terrace with a counter-current pool, jacuzzi and stylish contoured loungers. This is a great spot at night, perfect for sipping a glass of Argentinean Malbec whilst enjoying the views over the city. Inside the hotel one finds the Shiraz Cava and Lounge, the hotel's bar and restaurant serving innovative tapas and gourmet dishes. For some pampering and relaxation head to the Spa Bleu, which also has a gym, sauna and indoor pool.
Activities
Mansion Vitraux has guided wine tastings every afternoon for guests. The hotel is also within easy reach of many pavement cafes, restaurants, bars, chic boutiques, galleries and museums. A short walk takes you to Buenos Aires' main square, the Plaza de Mayo, with its imposing Presidential Palace. The concierge at Mansion Vitraux can assist with all arrangements, whether it be tickets for a polo match, a visit to a Tango show or a private driver to show you the city's highlights.
When to travel
Buenos Aires is a year round destination, spring and autumn (October/November and April/May) being the most pleasant. It can be hot and humid in the peak summer months of January and February. Winter is usually pretty mild.
