North of Playa del Carmen is The Tides Riviera Maya, a hotel built in local rustic style and aimed at couples. Originally called Ikal del Mar, the property was rebranded as The Tides last year. It has been given an all-round revamp, and next year 12 new suites will be added to the existing 30.
