Hacienda San Jose, a former grand nobleman's estate, is located 45 minutes from the Yucatan's capital Merida. This gem of a hotel has been restored in a colonial style with stunning pastel blue facades and landscaped gardens.
The 15 rooms have been furnished in a stylish manner evoking the splendor of past eras. Their high ceilings give a spacious feel and their design is an interesting combination of contemporary and traditional styles. The dark, tropical hardwoods of beds and cabinets compliment exposed beams and rafters giving an authentic Mayan ambience.
There is a magnificent swimming pool surrounded by groves of fruit trees and a spa with local Mayan therapists offering traditional healing practices of the Yucatan peninsula to help restore mind, body and soul. At night the stone walls and majestic archways surrounding the hotel’s gourmet restaurant are floodlit to create an intimate dining atmosphere. When to travel
The Yucatán Peninsula is hot and humid. The rainy season is mid-August to mid-October, when there’s afternoon showers most days. The best time to visit is during the dryer, slightly cooler months between November and May. Hurricane season runs from June to November.

How to get there
11 hour international flight to Mexico City, followed by a 2 hour domestic flight to Merida. Hacienda San Jose is a 45 minutes drive from the International Airport of Mérida, or 2.5 hours drive by car from Cancún.
