Esencia’s 29 spacious guest rooms and suites epitomise Caribbean comfort and simplicity with mesmerising views, airy patios, elegant mahogany windows and pristine white floors. Ten suites are hidden in the lush tropical gardens with their own private plunge pools while 2 houses come with a full staff including a cook and nanny (extra cost).
The Aroma Spa features 5 treatment rooms, 4 jacuzzis and 2 Mayan-styled domed steam rooms. The ancient holistic treatments include massage, herbal saunas and facials all performed with traditional organic methods using pure indigenous fruits, plants and herbs. The hotel’s restaurant Sal y Fuego serves mouthwatering rustic specialities using locally grown ingredients with an ethnic twist.
Given its privileged beachfront location, there is an abundance of water sports on offer including scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing and sailing. From June to September you can go swimming with whale sharks but if you prefer to stay on dry land you can enjoy a round of golf, play tennis or even visit the ancient ruins at Tulum and Chichen Itza.

When to travel
The Yucatán Peninsula is hot and humid. The rainy season is mid-August to mid-October, when there’s afternoon showers most days. The best time to visit is during the dryer, slightly cooler months between November and March. Hurricane season runs from June to November.

Xpu-ha, Mexico
Esencia is set on Xpu-Ha beach, on Mexico’s Riviera Maya coast. Located just 20 minutes south of Mayakoba & Playa del Carmen, and 25 minutes north of Tulum.
How to get there
Esencia is reached by an 11 hour international flight to Cancun International Airport, followed by a 1 hour drive to the hotel. Private transfers are available from the airport.
