Description
The Xandari Plantation is located on the outskirts of San Jose, north of Alajuela, overlooking Costa Rica’s Central Valley, surrounded by exotic gardens and a fruit orchard. The villas are built in a contemporary style and decorated with colourful artwork, are spacious and have large terraces and secluded patios.
The restaurant serves a variety of cuisine, with many of the ingredients grown at the hotel’s orchard and organic vegetable and herb garden.
Activities include horse riding, rafting, and visits to Poas Volcano and biological reserves. After a leisurely stroll along the properties forested trails and visiting nearby waterfalls, indulge in a treatment at Xandari’s Spa Village or take a dip in the pool or jacuzzi.

When to travel
At an elevation of 3900 feet (1200 meters), Xandari enjoys a near–perfect temperature of around 27°C all year, although November to April are the best months for sunshine. The ‘Green’ season, from May to October, is a good time to visit: it’s sunny in the mornings with rain in the afternoons. The quietest period is April to early June. The rain can be particularly strong in September and October.
Rafting is possible all year round, though the river might be slightly colder during the green season.

How to get there
15 hour flight (via Miami) to San Jose Juan Santamaria International. Xandari Plantation is a 20 minute car transfer from the airport.
