Latitude 10 is an intimate boutique hotel with 5 casitas located in the small village of Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula surrounded by lush Costa Rican rainforest and only 6km north of Cabo Blanco National Park.
These spacious beach bungalows, designed by a local architect, have been beautifully constructed from dark almond wood and decorated in an early 20th Century colonial style with four poster beds and fine linens. Local artwork and handicrafts add an authentic Costa Rican feel and there are no windows so rooms are kept cool with ocean breezes. Open-air bathrooms make one feel totally at one nature. Each comes with its own porch decked out with cosy chairs and hammocks and, in the evenings, candles provide a warm, relaxed atmosphere.
The hotel’s restaurant serves a fusion of international and Costa Rican cuisine and uses the finest organic ingredients. Enjoy dining in the open-air dining room with fabulous ocean views. The sunsets in Santa Teresa are renowned for being some of the best in Costa Rica.
Why not take a day trip to the famous Isla Tortuga for a snorkelling adventure, hike to a secluded bay in Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve or just unwind with a soothing massage in Meridian, the hotel's open-air studio overlooking the ocean.
Accommodation
Five individually appointed casitas each with their own private porch and surrounded by beautiful native vegetation. Amenities include open sky bathrooms, ceiling fans, outdoor deck/sitting area, safe deposit box, and daily housekeeping service.
Childcare
The hotel is largely catered for adults although children are welcome. There are no specific facilities or cots available but day beds can be made up on request. Best suited for teenagers.
Facilities
Latitude 10 boasts a Clubhouse with an infinity pool and its very own white sandy beach. There is no restaurant as such but breakfast is included in room rates and lunch and dinner can be cooked by private chefs upon request. Other facilities include a bar, lounge and also spa treatment rooms to unwind and relax.
Activities
At Latitude 10 you can go bird watching, take wildlife tours in the nearby Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, go cycling, snorkelling, surfing and swimming or why not take yoga classes in the open-air studio on the beach.
When to travel
With a warm climate most of the year, the Nicoya Peninsula is known for its great weather. However, during the rainy season from April to November most of the roads can get quite impassable due to rivers washing them out. Mid November trade winds from the north-east arrive, marking the end of the rainy season. The following months these offshore winds, called Papagayo, relief the heat and provide perfect surf conditions. Sunshine is guaranteed during the high-season months of January - April. During this long and pronounced dry season many trees and shrub drop their leaves which makes it easier to spot animals.
In May a mellow rainy season follows which the tourism industry has dubbed the Green Season.
It's the time of the year preferred by eco-tourists as nature is verdant green, sunsets multi-hued, and many hotels offer low season rates.

On the southern tip of the Nicoya Península, on Costa Rica’s northwestern Pacific Coast in the small village of Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa is located 6 km north of Cabo Blanco National Park, stretching to the pristine Playa Hermosa.
How to get there
15 hour international flight (via Miami) to San Jose Juan Santamaria International. From San Jose it is then a 1 hour light aircraft flight to Tambor, followed by a 50 minute car transfer to Latitude 10. Alternatively, driving from San Jose takes 6 hours, via the ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera.
