Lamanai Outpost Lodge is situated on the banks of a 28-mile long spring fed lagoon amid the remnants of a major Maya city. The lodge is surrounded by an incredible variety of habitats that facilitate unsurpassed nature based and soft adventure activities that depart right from your cabana’s doorstep without the need for day-trips. Embark on a night crocodile-encounter aboard a Florida style airboat; experience a tropical breakfast on a jungle river, explore a long abandoned Maya city or simply relax in a hammock overlooking a spring fed lagoon - all within walking distance of the lodge. Lamanai Outpost Lodge is committed to providing the highest quality of nature experience. On average, each activity departs with only 4-6 guests. The area is home to fascinating flora and fauna including 375 species of birds in a variety of habitats from vast wetlands to broadleaf forest to pine savanna. The lodge has an open air restaurant and bar with panoramic views of the New River Lagoon, the ever-changing garden and the Maya ruins of Lamanai. There is also a reference library and lounge area to relax after a busy day exploring the area.

Lamanai Outpost Lodge offers 20 spacious cabanas, constructed using local hardwoods with palm-thatched roofs.

Activities

Two standard activities per nights stay are included in the inclusive package program. Other activities can be organised at an extra cost on arrival including jungle tours, canoeing, Mayan ruin visits, medicine trail, sunset cruise and nature walk. Specialized adventures include native fishing, howler monkey treks, sunset airboat safari, crocodile encounters, night spear fishing and birding expeditions.

When to travel

Belize's climate is marked by two distinct seasons, the rainy season (June to November) and the dry season (December to May). The coldest month is January and the warmest temperatures are in May.

The busier time of the year for travellers to Belize is November to May, which are the winter months of the Northern Hemisphere. It is possible to visit out-side of these months but the rainy season in the Forest Highlands can be rather wet.

Lamanai Outpost Lodge is situated on the banks of a 28 mile long spring fed lagoon amid the remnants of a major Maya city. 20 minutes away from Lamanai Archaeological Reserve in northwestern Belize in the Orange Walk District.

How to get there

12 hour international flight (via Miami) to Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport in Belize City. The Lodge offers a regular scheduled shuttle service between the airport and the lodge- 45 minute drive north of Belize City, where you will be transferred the rest of the journey to the lodge by boat (1 hour).
