Description

The Landing is a small boutique hotel overlooking the harbour in the heart of Dunmore Town.

There are twelve guest rooms, all of which are decorated in classic plantation style and include mahogany four-poster beds and crisp white Ralph Lauren linen. All rooms have verhandas and air-conditioning, some with additional ceiling fans and most have harbour views. The waxed hardwood floors are overlaid with sea-grass matting and decorated with a meticulous attention to detail. All rooms have private baths, air conditioning and feature wireless internet connection.

The restaurant at the hotel serves a contemporary menu based on fresh local produce and freshly caught local fish and seafood. Other facilities include the library which offers the perfect place to relax and unwind and there is now a swimming pool.

The Landing is only a 5-minute stroll from the incredible pink sand beach, for which Harbour Island is famous. Outlying reefs provide large areas of relatively calm and shallow waters that are ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving. Local dive shops offer dive instruction and certification. Harbour Island is also a fabulous fishing destination, offering both deep-sea and flats fishing.

When to travel

The temperature in The Bahamas averages between 75°F and 85°F (24°C-29°C) in both winter and summer, although it can get chilly in the early morning and at night. The Bahamian winter is usually like a perpetual late spring. Summer brings broiling hot sun and humidity. The hurricane season, lasts (officially) from June 1 to November 30. But there is no cause for panic. Hurricanes are actually fairly infrequent here, and when one does come, satellite forecasts generally give adequate advance warning so that precautions can be taken.
