Franschhoek Country House & Villas is a restored manor house and former perfumery, dating back to 1890, situated on the outskirts of the village and surrounded by enchanting vineyards and majestic mountains. Being only an hour’s drive from Cape Town makes it the perfect getaway for anyone visiting the western Cape. The famous Monneaux restaurant has become known for its innovative Modern French Cuisine, prepared with fresh, well sourced ingredients, and is exquisitely presented. À la carte lunches are served in the tranquil gardens whilst dinner is served in the understated yet elegant dining room or enclosed veranda.
The Country House offers 14 luxury rooms including two colonial honeymoon suites and two garden cottages. All rooms feature hand-crafted furniture, pure cotton linen and overhead fans. Some rooms have satellite TV, fireplaces, underfloor heating and most lead out onto balconies or private patios. Bathrooms are spacious and many feature gorgeous Victorian free standing baths. There are now an additional 12 exclusive villa suites measuring 100 sqm and feature a separate lounge, bedroom and picturesque bathroom and two private balconies.

The Country House offers 26 rooms and suites including 6 Standard De Luxe Rooms, 5 Luxury Rooms, 2 Garden Cottages and 12 Villa Suites. Some rooms have satellite TV, fire places, under floor heating and most lead out onto balconies or private patios. Other amenities include direct dial telephones, minibars, tea and coffee making facilities and air conditioning. There 12 exclusive Villa Suites, each measuring 100 sqm, feature an entrance portico leading into a large, well appointed sitting room.
Childcare
Children are welcome but there are no facilities except babysitting which can be provided on request. Attractions kids will love in the Winelands area include Bugz Play Park, the Franschhoek Motor Museum, Stellenbosch Botanical Gardens, the Stellenbosch Toy and Miniature Museum and for a chance to see some of South Africa's abundant wildlife, the Giraffe House, the Cheetah Outreach Facility and Eagle Encounters.

Facilities at the hotel include two outdoor swimming pools, restaurant, bar, massage treatments, complimentary Internet station and WiFi connection throughout (charged additionally).

Aside from relaxing by the pool or indulging in a massage the hotel will be happy to arrange activities in the surrounding area including horse riding in the mountains, golf, wine tours, hiking, cycling, hot air ballooning and paragliding from the Franschhoek Mountains.
When to travel
The Winelands are a wonderful year-round destination and enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, somewhat like the South of France, which is what makes the area perfect for grape-growing. Summer in Franschhoek is the reverse of the Northern hemisphere. The best season visit is September to March when it is hot, sunny and dry. From April to August it cools down with some rain.

Franschhoek Country House & Villas is situated on the outskirts of the village of Franschhoek - only 1km from the main town and surrounded by wine farms and beautiful mountain vistas. Surrounding areas such as Paarl, Stellenbosch and Cape Town can be explored from here.
How to get there
12 hour international flight. The Cape Town International airport is only 50 minutes drive from Franschhoek and it is recommended that the valley be explored by vehicle (which can be collected at the airport or alternatively delivered at the hotel).
