Description
Exeter is situated within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which is renowned for having some of the best game-viewing in South Africa. Located near the southwestern corner of the Kruger National Park, there are no restricting fences, enabling the animals to roam freely. Leadwood is a private safari lodge situated in the western part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, nestled against a well wooded bank of the Sand River, where jackalberry and leadwood trees lend their shade.
Leadwood Lodge is a fabulous option for honeymoon couples looking for a more romantic and private safari experience. With only four suites, this is the more exclusive lodge within the Exeter concession and perfect for families or groups of friends. When taken exclusively you can enjoy a private ranger/host, tracker, butler, chef and exclusive use of an open 4x4 safari vehicle.
The lodge offers four beautifully appointed suites featuring a private fireplace, sitting room, plunge pool, bathroom with free standing tubs and air conditioning. Floor to ceiling glass windows in the front of each suite afford fantastic views of the animals coming down to drink at the rocky watering hole. Fine Pan African cuisine is served in the dining area, in the boma around a roaring fire or in the bush. There's also a large swimming pool for cooling off from the heat of the African sun.
The lodge offers family game drives and you can also enjoy bush walks with experienced rangers and trackers to explore the finer details of your surroundings.

When to travel
There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.
