Hog Hollow Country Lodge is set on the edge of an indigenous forest, and has exceptional views of the dramatic surrounding countryside over the tree tops. Accommodation is in whitewashed cottages, with king size or twin beds, hand crafted artefacts, a well stocked minibar, fireplaces and en-suite facilities. Each has a wooden deck overlooking the ravine.
The main lodge houses the bar, huge yellowwood dining table, sitting room, library and pool terrace, all positioned to thoroughly appreciate this unique setting. It is hear that guests all meet each veening and eat dinner together. Hog Hollow prides itself on its cuisine which is served under the auspices of co-owner and chef, Mark. Fine local cuisine can also be enjoyed at the hotel's boma. The Ficus lounge is home to an ancient fruit-laden tree which is a favourite with Plettenberg's prolific bird community.
The activities available are numerous, suiting people of all ages and abilities. Activities at an additional charge include golf, river cruises, cycle trails, boat trips, bunjee jumping, ski diving, horse riding, scuba diving, fishing and salt water fly fishing.

Childcare
Children are welcome but there are no specific facilities. Associated services include babysitting and special turn downs each evening with a glass of fresh milk, a Gingerbread man, children’s stories and a whole box of toys and other interesting things. The hotel can provide buckets, spades and body boards for family fun at the beach. There are also children's menus available in the hotel's restaurant. There is plenty for them to do in the local area such as visits to Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, the Elephant Sanctuary and Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre.

When to travel
Garden Route enjoys a moderate climate all year round. In peak summer season, from December to February, temperatures can climb as high as 34ºC, although winter temperatures can drop to as low as 4ºC. Generally, this season has many sunny days with high wind at times. During the winter months of June, July, and August, expect frequent rains and a couple of chilly evenings. From June to December, the Southern Right Whale (Eubalaena australis) graces Walker Bay with its massive presence.

How to get there
Cape Town Airport (566km) and Johannesburg should be used for international flights. From northern Europe the flight takes approximately 12 hours. You can then take a connecting internal flight from Cape Town or Johannesburg, to George (1 hour / 130km from Hog Hollow) or to Port Elizabeth (2 hours / 210km from Hog Hollow). Transfers can be arranged through the hotel.
