Situated in Gardens, an old and established suburb of Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain, Welgelegen comprises two beautiful turn-of-the-century houses, lovingly renovated and decorated to reflect a commitment to style and comfort.
There are 6 and 7 rooms respectively in each house and a tranquil central courtyard, equipped with loungers and a plunge pool, links the two.
Welgelegen, as its name, ’well located’ in Dutch, suggests is perfectly situated at the heart of Cape Town’s ‘city bowl’. On nearby Kloof Street guests can find many of Cape Town’s finest restaurants and bars, plenty to occupy the evenings.
Also within easy walking distance are the National Museum & Art Gallery, Parliament Buildings and Green Market Square. Just five to 10 minutes by car are all the scenic highlights Cape Town has to offer - Table Mountain Cable Way, Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches, the Malay Quarter, V&A Waterfront and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Accommodation
There are a total of 13 bedrooms each individually decorated to a high standard. Each room has air-conditioning, bar fridges, satellite television. dressing gowns and complimentary port. There are 9 superior rooms, 3 deluxe rooms and 1 mini-deluxe room (shower only).
Childcare
Although there are no specific child care facilities, children are most welcome and two rooms are family rooms.

Welgelegen provides a delicious breakfast, and whilst it does not provide dinner options the guest house will make dinner reservations at any number of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. There is a refreshing plunge pool in the central courtyard for guests to enjoy as well as a range of relaxing massage and beauty treatments.
Activities
There are endless activities to chose from and sights to see in and around Cape Town. The city centre, V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain cable car and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the Constantia wine route, the famous sandy beaches of Clifton, Camps Bay, Llandudno and Hout Bay are all within easy reach, while more than a dozen golf courses are to be found within half an hour’s drive. The staff at Welgelegen are on hand to help create an itinerary and book some activities.

When to travel
Year-round destination. The summers are generally warm and dry, while winters tend to be wet and cool, the rains brought on by fierce north westerly gales. Neither season experiences extremes of temperature, thanks to prevailing winds. Summer (Nov-Mar) is the hottest with temperatures 20-40°C. Mid season (Apr, May, Sep, Oct) temps between 10-30°C. Winter (from June- Aug) is the low season with temps 0-25°C.

How to get there
11-hours 50-minute British Airways flight from London Heathrow to Cape Town International Airport. The airport is located approximately 30-minutes from Welgelegen. Transfers can be arranged by the hotel.
