Description

This private boutique hotel offers bush and beach with abundant coral reefs and ancient baobab trees meeting on the Londo Lodge peninsula. The tranquil setting boasts spectacular ocean views from each of the open-fronted villas and suites.

Mozambique is known as Africa's hidden pearl, the northern provinces of Cabo Delgado and Niassa are renowned for the Niassa Game Reserve and the Quirimbas National Park. Pemba and its surroundings offer turquoise seas, palm-fringed beaches, excellent diving, game-fishing and bush drives. The activities are plentiful, from snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing to exploring the surrounding mangroves by traditional dug-out canoe. Accommodation

Accommodation is in 4 Standard Ocean View Villas and 2 two-bedroom Ocean View Suites, each ocean-view villa is built on a 7 meter high cliff overlooking the majestic Pemba bay. Octagonal spacious rooms with outside teak decking, louvered 3 meter wide doors and traditional bamboo and thatch roofing. All villas are fitted with handmade UK mattresses, Belgian bed linen, in and outdoor bathrooms, handmade chrome taps and showers, draped mosquito nets and airconditioning units.

Eclectic in design, the villas have a delicate look and feel where Moroccan art blends in with traditional Maconde woodcraft and Victorian mirrors.

Childcare

Although there are no specific child care facilities, children are most welcome and food and meal times can easily be adjusted to suit all tastes. Babysitting can be arranged where needed.

Facilities include a private beach & mangrove beach-bar, eclectic restaurant, cliff edge swimming pool and spa, library and a cigar bar.

Activities

Activities are either land or sea based and the surrounding reefs draw guests to snorkel or dive with the Lodge's PADI instructor. Game-fishing and fly-fishing are available as are mangrove river trips, waterskiing or canoeing in a traditional dug-out.

Services

When to travel

Sunshine, blue skies and temperatures averaging between 24°C and 27°C along the coast are the norm, except during the rainy summer season from about December/January through to April when everything gets soggy and sticky, and temperatures exceed 30°C in some areas.

The best time to visit is from May/June to November, during the cooler dry season.
