Fishing in Mozambique is world class and even for beginners can be a huge amount of fun!
A trip to Mozambique is not complete without trying your hand at some Deep Sea Fishing. On a recent trip to Mozambique, I had only ever had a very basic introduction to fishing dangling a rod in a Scottish lake or ever hopefully in a river somewhere with very little success and rather a lot of boredom! Heading out on a morning excursion in Mozambique was a completely different and a truly exhilarating experience!
Fishing is taken very seriously in Mozambique and the properties Scott Dunn recommend really do have all the kit and an amazing selection of boats. The fisherman who take you out to sea are fantastically informative and incredibly skilled. If you are a beginner or an expert they will be sure to look after you accordingly and make it a trip to remember.
From my experience, once we boarded this incredibly smart boat it only took about 10 minutes, with the trawlers out in the ocean, to feel a large tug on our lines and the sound of the lines racing through the water. Before we knew it, I was being taught to reel in the most enormous Barracuda I had ever seen, I could not believe it! But it honestly was not just luck, we continued for the next two hours landing these huge fish - Dog toothed Tuna, Wahoo, King Fish and Mahi Mahi to name a few...
They tend to put most of the fish back again into the sea, but occasionally, you will be able to keep your catch and they can serve it up as Sushimi in the evenings!
Deep sea fishing is not cheap but, I honestly, can not recommend it enough. It was my absolute highlight of a recent trip!
