A maze of true wonder and fascination, the Okavango Delta is a wondrous sight, both to see as well as to experience. Teeming with spectacular wildlife, overgrown islands, sparkling lagoons and meandering channels, a truly special adventure is sure to be had in this incredible jewel situated in the very heart of the Kalahari Desert.
Xudum’s 25,000 hectares of pristine wilderness will be shared by only 18 guests for an exhilirating water and land experience. As well as excellent big game viewing there are diverse bird and plant species to enjoy, including the elusive Pel’s fishing owl.
Guided walking, 4x4, mokoro and powerboat adventures are complemented by delicious pan-African cuisine. The inventive, layered guest areas offer 180 degree views of the surrounding wilderness while remaining discreetly within the treeline. Massive, oversized sofas invite guests to sink in and soak up the sounds of the African night.
Accommodation
Accommodation is in 9 split-level safari suites decorated in homely tones of chocolate and ebony all feature a large bathtub and romantic al fresco showers. Each suite also has a private plunge pool and a
lofty rooftop look-out with magnificent Delta views.
Childcare
Children are welcome. Regretfully, children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the regular game
drives and mokoro activities. Children 16 years and older can participate in guided walks and mokoro
activities. Childminders can be booked at an additional cost. Children aged 6 to 11 years are accommodated on game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion.
Facilities
The inventive, layered guest areas boast dramatic decks with 180° views of the surrounding wilderness yet remain discreetly within the tree line. The well-stocked Safari Shop offers chic safari gear, African art and jewellery.
Activities
Activities include Morning, afternoon/early evening and night game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles, boating and mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) adventures in the Delta, and guided walks. It should be noted that this is an excellent area for bird-watching. Helicopter transfers and flights are available at an extra cost. Fishing is permitted between the months of March and December.

When to travel
Botswana’s winter is during our British summer, and the weather is hot during the day, but it isn't a stifling heat, and cold at night. The summer months (British winter) can be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain. Botswana has one rainy season which runs between mid-December and runs through to mid-March.

Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge, Botswana is ideally situated amidst a mosaic of papyrus and reed beds within this exclusive 25 000 hectare (62 000 acre) wildlife concession, southeast of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. Xudum is located along the channels and lagoons along the southern, seasonal portion of the Okavango Delta.
How to get there
Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta, which is an eleven hour international flight to Johannesburg, followed by a two hour international flight.
Fly into the Xudum airstrip, a mere twenty minute flight from Maun, followed by a fourty minute game drive to the lodge.
