Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge is situated near a permanent channel of the Delta, offering a water and wilderness experience with the excitement of viewing big game on land in the game-rich Moremi Wildlife Reserve on a 270 square kilometre private concession. The Lodge is situated right on the southern tip of Chief’s Island, on the southern border of Moremi Game Reserve and within the
Santantadibe River system.
Surrounded by forest, Sandibe’s twin-bedded cottages are styled in a fusion of ochres and tactile textures, with airy screen walls opening onto exceptional views of the Okavango Delta wetlands and savanna. The central dining and sitting area is tucked under a soaring canopy of trees.
In the heart of the camp, tucked under the forest canopy, is the soaring sitting and dining area with quiet decks affording views across the waterways. A shaded swimming pool and well-stocked
Safari Shop are close by. Pan African dinners are prepared and served in the open boma that boasts a unique charcoal-cooled wine cellar.
The lodge’s prime location between permanent water and open plains means that guests can enjoy a variety of land and water-based wildlife activities in open 4 x 4 safari vehicles, mokoro canoes or on foot.
Accommodation
The lodge has just 8 intimate African-inspired cottages with ensuite bathroom, twin hand basin, separate toilet and outdoor shower and dressing area. The cottages are airy with all windows covered in gauze
to maximise views of the forest. Each cottage has an elevated viewing deck which is perfect for intimate candlelit dinners.
Childcare
Children are welcome. Regretfully, children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the regular game
drives and mokoro activities. Children 16 years and older can participate in guided walks and mokoro
activities. Childminders can be booked at an additional cost. Children aged 6 to 11 years are accommodated on game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion. An extra bed can be arranged for a child sharing its parents’ suite. No more than 1 triple in camp at any one time.

Activities
Game drives take place twice a day in open-air safari vehicle, accompanied by an armed guide and tracker. Explore the floodplains, seasonal grasslands, woodlands, shrub lands and savanna areas of this magically beautiful wilderness area tracking the Big Five and many other rare and remarkable species.
Guests can also chose to explore the camp surrounds in the company of an armed and passionately knowledgeable guide with a fascinating interpretive bush walk. Alternatively, experience a water adventure like none other with a mokoro ride along the Delta’s network of fascinating waterway channels again accompanied by an experienced guide.
When to travel
Botswana’s winter is during our British summer, and the weather is hot during the day, but it isn't a stifling heat, and cold at night. The summer months (British winter) can be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain. Botswana has one rainy season which runs between mid-December and runs through to mid-March.
