Description

Named for Scandinavian royalty who camped at the water's edge, Kings Pool Lagoon attracts large herds of elephant during the dry season. Kings Pool Camp combines such spectacular sightings with a luxurious place from which to see them.

King’s Pool is superbly set above the oxbow-shaped King’s Pool Lagoon with the Linyanti River to the north. The Linyanti area has a large wildlife resource with a wide variety of species, but it is most noted for its very large Elephant population, which can reach enormous densities during the winter months.

The diversity of the game means the Linyanti is a perfect place for any visitor. The major predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena are regularly sighted together with good populations of impala and smaller animals. The reed and papyrus swamps are ideal for numerous and diverse species of birds and are a magnet for game in the dry winter months.

The nine twin-bedded tented rooms are some of the most luxurious in Botswana. Each of the suites has its own large bedroom area, lounge, private plunge pool and a sala. Each en-suite bathroom has two showers, two hand basins and a separate flush toilet. There is an outdoor shower for those who prefer to shower under the stars. The main lounge, pub and dining room are under thatch, and there is a swimming pool built into the deck. The main area is linked to the bedrooms by a raised walkway to allow animals to wander freely around the camp.

Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives, seasonal boating and occasionally guided walks.

When to travel

Botswana’s winter is during our British summer, and the weather is hot during the day, but it isn't a stifling heat, and cold at night. The summer months (British winter) can be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain. Botswana has one rainy season which runs between mid-December and runs through to mid-March.
