Description

Les Jardins de Skoura was brought to life by the French owner, Caroline, who spent 20 months restoring this wonderful laid back retreat from an old farm ruin. She brings with her a long history of working in the travel industry and the service, food and attention to detail are second to none. This is the perfect place for a laid back break away from the more tourist populated areas around Marrakech.

There are 5 standard rooms and 3 suites and all are spacious and tastefully furnished with an emphasis on comfort as well as style. All of the standard rooms have a living area and the suites have separate living rooms and open fireplaces for the cooler evenings. The largest suite, Atlas, is on the ground floor and has its own terrace.

The food is homemade, interesting and delicious with a strong focus on traditional Moroccan cuisine with a French twist, much of it sourced form the gardens and orchards surrounding the property. There is no menu as such, and meals can be taken in the cosy dining room or on the terrace, with Caroline always on hand to ensure guests are happy and informed.

There are a number of cosy areas to sit out and enjoy a mint tea – or an afternoon reading a book in a hammock is equally as reviving. The gardens are simply delightful and are home to an refreshing unheated swimming pool. The hotel is a perfect base to explore the local area where the tourist numbers are much fewer than around Marrakech and where you can visit ruined Kasbah’s or head into the Atlas Mountains.

Accommodation

Les Jardins De Skoura has 8 Rooms in total. The 5 Standard Rooms are all simply, stylishly and traditionally decorated with quirky objects and rich colours and all have a seating area. Please note that Zitouna and Haaneb interconnect and are perfect for families. The three Suites, Seguia, Jnan and Atlas are all spacious with separate sitting rooms and the largest, Atlas, has a private terrace.

Childcare

Children and families are welcome at Jardins De Skoura. The Suites can take up to four people and two of the Standard Rooms can interconnect. Babysitting available for children of 3 years and above and as well as the wonderful gardens and pool to play in, there are also board games for children to enjoy.

Facilities

Meals can be taken in the garden, poolside, on the terrace or inside in the dining room - all are freshly prepared feasts combining French and Moroccan influences. The same meals are cooked for all guests as there is no menu, so let Caroline know if you have dietary requirements of any kind. Jardins De Skoura has a 12 metre unheated swimming pool.

Activities

The local area is so beautiful and well worth exploring with a guide and can range from walks in the property's palm groves to donkey trekking and full day trips for trekking, the Dades and Draa Valleys, the Atlas Mountains and more. Bicycles are available for guests and horse riding can also be arranged.

When to travel

Skoura can be visited year-round, although it does get cold in winter, especially at night and the height of summer can see temperatures well over 40º. Spring and autumn are probably the best times to visit.
