Ciel D'afrique have been offering hot air balloon adventures over the countryside and villages surrounding Marrakech in one of the world's largest hot air balloons since 1990. Flights can be arranged in a small group or for the ultimate indulgence enjoy a private flight with the added luxury of champagne.
You will be collected early from your hotel in a luxury land cruiser and taken to the departure point just outside Marrakech. Passengers are given full explanations of the balloon and its workings and safety procedures are discussed in full.
The relaxing flight in the wicker basket beneath the 30 metre high balloon affords breath taking views of Morocco over the wide open tranquil deserts and the small local villages. The peace one finds on such a trip at a height of up to 1000 metres is astounding. After a flight of about an hour, you will touch down and be taken to one of the villages you've seen from the air for a mint tea and will be taken back to your hotel for about midday.

Children are welcome on Ciel D'afrique's balloon trips and will find the balloon trip both fascinating, relaxing and exhilarating. They will no doubt also enjoy the village visit once the balloon has touched down.
When to travel
Weather-wise, the best times to go are spring and autumn, when temperatures are 20°C to 25°C by day and at least 10°C by night, and November to February, with cooler nights but similar daytime temperatures and light rainfall possible. The weather in March and April features sporadic, light rainfall with some sandstorms in April, while June sees dusty siroccos (desert winds) sweep through the city. From mid-June to August temperatures rise into the 30s and occasionally 40s.

3.5 hour flight to Marrakech. Ciel d'Afrique will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel in Marrakech and drive you 45 minutes through the countryside to the launch site.
