Description
Jereca Farm has been lovingly restored by two artists to create an intimate Moroccan country retreat that blends Berber tradition with modern comfort. The ancient garden cocoons you with its colours and sweet smells of roses, jasmine, lavender, scented night stock… whilst the trees bear lemons, oranges, pomegranates, quince, pears, plums, nectarines and even grapes! Jereca is a working farm producing fine olive oil and kitchen fruit and vegetables.
There are no crowds here. The farmhouse is built on one storey with traditional thick mud walls and offers just two charming double four-poster bedrooms and one ‘Princess’ generous single complete with a Chinese wedding bed. All rooms are en-suite and have individual terraces outside. Add to this a library and vast and magical living room with sitting areas, dining and a home cinema. The house is decorated with originality and charm, an eclectic mix of furniture and artefacts gathered by its owners.
There is plenty to do, or absolutely nothing. You choose. You can help Ali the Berber farmer to feed the animals – goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks and two young camels Humphrey and Bogart. Hunt for free range eggs, gather organic vegetables, help harvest the olives, even learn to make a tagine lunch in the kitchen. For those needing a challenge they can arrange riding or trekking in the Atlas mountains. There is also Golf, quad biking, even balloon trips. Ourika Monday market is 20 minutes away and the local Sidi Abdellah Rhiat Sunday market 5 minutes down the road. Marrakech medina with its famous Place J’ma Al F’na and its maze of souks is also a 30minute drive away. Alternatively just find a shaded spot by the pool, in the garden or in the 85 year old olive grove, kick back and relax.
