At a glance

  • What could be more unique than your very own private, staffed tented camp?

Description

The Private Desert Camps are set up en route to Siwa in the amazing Great Sand Sea and are a magical place to overnight. The first camp is close to Al Bahrein Oasis, and another option is in Tabaghbagh, close to the Qatari Depression.

The camp is erected a couple of hours before you arrive at a location that is hand picked by the local Siwan staff. Each camp is exclusively private to you, and can accommodate up to 6 people in three marquee style tents. Inside the tents you will find a double bed with a comfortable mattress and a sitting area furnished with beautiful Siwanese rugs.

After familiarising yourself with the camp, you can watch the sunset as drinks are brought to you, before moving to your dining table for a freshly cooked private three-course dinner under the stars.

Much care and attention has been taken to assure a fantastic experience offering an unparalleled luxury adventure so far off the beaten track.

Accommodation

Any private desert camp will have up to 3 marquee style tents, but the camp is always occupied on an exclusive basis and your party will be the only guests.

Childcare

Children are very welcome at the Private Desert Camps where the staff are welcoming and very accommodating but please note that there are no specific facilities for children here. For any child, a night under the stars in the middle of the desert is bound to be a highlight of any trip to Egypt.

Facilities

The facilities at the private camps are extremely minimal but comfortable and consist of your tents, a dining table, sitting area and a bar - what more could you possibly need?

Activities

No specific activities are planned while at the desert camps as they act merely as a stopover point en route to Siwa.

When to travel

Siwa has a typical desert climate. The best time is winter (November-March) which is warm but not hot by day, and surprisingly cold at night. In the summer (June through August), when the heat is at its strongest, the hotel limits occupancy to 10 rooms; you really want to avoid coming at this time, though, as it is far too hot for comfort. Sandstorms are a risk in March.
