Description
The Selous is the largest protected reserve in Africa, three times larger than the Serengeti and with one of the highest concentrations of wildlife. The camp is split into North and South camp with a total of 13 spacious luxury tents raised on wooden platforms under palm canopies, with side and front verandahs to maximize the views. North camp caters for 6 tents and the South camp caters for 7 tents, each with its own pool, dining and main area providing a very personal and intimate safari experience.
The central dining area and separate living area are elevated on tall platforms and include large comfortable sofas and a wildlife reference library. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in 4x4 vehicles and guided bush walks.
One of the highlights of a stay at Selous Safari Camp is to explore the Rufiji River and its many tributaries, channels and lagoons by boat, with the occasional stop for a spot of fishing. The camp has its own swimming pool, enabling guests to cool off during the heat of the day.
Part of the camp can be taken exclusively and would be ideal for a family or group of friends.

When to travel
Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit.
