This unique guesthouse is very family friendly and is suitable for guests wanting to enjoy crackling log fires and home comforts whilst unwinding after safari or after a long flight. Guests also have the option of taking a day room at Macushla House, which is easily accessible to restaurants and the airports.

The style and slightly quirky décor of the house are very much in keeping with the relaxed atmosphere with only six cosy and comfortable bedrooms. Macusla House is superbly located to escape into the serenity of Langata and is a stone’s throw from such attractions as the Karen Blixen Museum and Giraffe Manor.

There are no specific childcare facilities at Macushla House however children of all ages are very welcome. Meal times can be altered and food tailored to suit each child and babysitting can be arranged on request.

There are many activities to do during a stay at Macushla House such as trips to Daphne Sheldrick's Elephant Orphanage, shopping excursions, Nairobi National Park and Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe centre also horseback riding through Karen Riding School followed by champagne garden brunch or sundowner.
When to travel
Although Nairobi is situated in the middle of East Africa, its high altitude—about a mile above sea level—means that the city's climate is mild year-round. Summer months in Nairobi are December through March, Winter months, June through to September. The wettest months are in the Autumn, from March through June. April sees upwards of 8 inches of rain on average. Cloudy, rainy days are common in the Autumn. October through December is the region's second rainy season, where "short rains" bring about 5 inches of rain to the area in November. Otherwise rainfall is pretty scarce, about two inches a month. February sees the most sunshine in Nairobi, with about ten hours of daylight.

Macushla House is situated in the leafy, quite, residential suburb of Langata, Nairobi. Macushla House is about 15km from downtown Nairobi and 25km from the airport.
How to get there
8.5hr international flight to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport. Transfers between Macushla House and the Nairobi International Airport take about 45 minutes each way and can be arranged on request.
